Even though light switches are small, the tiniest touch can really spruce up the entire room. You may not notice it, but you probably use the light switch multiple times a day which means you’re actually seeing it more than you realize—exactly why this little change makes all the difference.

To begin this project, remove all the light switch plates with the help of a screwdriver.

Next, you’ll want to search around stores for picture frames that will fit the size and shape of the light switch covers. You can check out thrift stores for the cheapest options.

As Dana wrote in her blog, the hardest step is “Finding frames that fit what you want to do.” To help in your search, try taking the light switch plates with you while you’re shopping to ensure the frame you buy will fit properly.

In her project, Dana found three different frames to add some variety.

She began by gluing each light switch plate to the back of its corresponding frame with Krazy Glue.

Then, she spray painted the newly decorated light completely white.

This creates the illusion that the picture frames have been a fancy light switch plate all along.

Dana then added a clear gloss protective coat before screwing the covers back into place.
